I can get behind a well-written, objective piece about a manager, regardless of how big a fan I am. But this has to be the most opinionated drivel I've come across.

Started quite well by establishing the impact Tuchel has had and how, when faced by similar situations, Chelsea were able to crunch out different results, but the spiral that followed..

How are you to compare wage levels and determine that since one set of players earn more, they should perform at a higher level than another set of players? I am not against the premise, but there are factors to take into account. Over the last decade or so, United have been famous for overpaying players. Would you expect Brandon Williams to give you the same performance as Reece James over 38 games simply because they earn a similar amount of money? No, one is clearly overpaid. The "grading" of managers depending on whether or not their players perform to their salary levels is silly at best.

You then go on to say that United's style of play vastly improving from one of less possession and a lack of pressing to the "Relentless" type that top clubs are characterised with, according to you, is not down to Ole at all. Rather, Mourinho caused a bit of magic that reset the squad and miraculously brought their fitness levels and intent right back in line with where a top club should be. How much must one dislike a manager to deny him even the slightest bit of praise?

"...which suggests that a lot of smaller clubs perhaps play too conservatively; they could be better if they tried to play like Liverpool." Dearie me. What happened to wage bill determining how a club should and shouldn't perform? How can Brighton be expected to play live Liverpool with a wage bill that is dwarfed by that of the Merseyside club? Or has football once again become a game of margins because it's no longer a discussion of whether Ole is doing well?

There's just so much wrong here that even the least bit of research could fix.

Most pros do not have the same high level of finishing. Why can Tottenham outperform their xG by 10 over a season while Leeds only do so by 3? Surely there's a difference in the quality of finishing from their forwards.

Teams don't tend to spend much on their midfielders? Rodri, Jorginho, Fabinho, Ndombele and Partey are just a few examples of the investments top clubs have had to make to improve their cores. To pretend Solksjaer doesn't need to do the same is nonsense. Give Tuchel the pair of Fred and McTominay and ask him to boss games as well as you praise him for doing.

I'm not saying Ole is the solution to United's problems. Not even that he is of the quality of Tuchel and Pep and the lot. However, the "evidence" you've provided to support your claim is insufficient at best and simply made up at worst. Yes, he may not have the classiest of tactics and may not be the one to deliver United the Champions League or Premier League they so desperately desire, but if you are going to criticise him, do it without the blatant agenda and disregard for facts.

Not sure if these are all United fans or union reps defending the PE teacher this passionately.

So word got out Ryan’s a Liverpool fan and the Man U mob was summoned?

In all seriousness, Ryan would freely admit some of his analysis is subject to alternative conclusions, but when you won’t even engage him on any of the data he’s citing, you expose your one-dimensional riotous existence. For example, the wage bill being correlated with winning is one of the most cited data points I’ve ever heard. Maybe not to rely on your own anecdotal recall in arguing against such a well estimate metric. Does it have a ton of explanatory value? That’s a different question, but it’s not crazy to use when evaluating talent levels across clubs.

Lastly, just because OGS has “transformed the club” (as the obvious talking point goes), one can question his mastery of on-the-field tactics using, you know, on-the-field data. Ryan’s piece is maybe biased, but his research and command of the data at hand far exceeds this motley crew of Man U fans that decided to show up for this post.

The rest of the world see ole is one of if not the worst manager in the prem but the man United board/fans will never let go of romanticizing ole, the player.

Thought this was pretty weird. The premise that OGS isn't the guy to take them back to the top is fine, but to ignore how he's actually transformed the squad to argue he doesn't have a plan considering what he inherited is disingenuous. Part of the reason you could argue they should sack him, especially if they don't genuinely push for the league, is that the squad is so much stronger, and much of that is down to his vision and the players he's asked the club to bring in.

Is this a joke? How can you not see how OGS has transformed United? How can you not see his vision?? Literally, EVERY aspect of the club has improved under Ole.
