Episode 021: The Star Tarot Card

Believe That There Are Silver Linings

The Star is the card in the Major Arcana of the tarot, representing inspiration, a renewal of faith and hope, brand new opportunities, spirituality, and being blessed.

Good health is another thing it means. It can also represent astronomy as the card is the Star.

However, it represents having a good reason to be hopeful more often than not. There is a reason that the Star card came after the Tower.

The Tower represents sudden destruction that leaves you feeling hopeless and confused.

But, the Star is there to tell you that everything will be okay.

There is a reason to be hopeful and to have faith.

You have a reason to hang onto optimism. Things will get better.

Now, let's go over the history and appearance of this card.

The History And Appearance Of The Star Tarot Card

The history of the star tarot card is a little messy, but the earliest known reference to it comes from the 15th-century book Le Monde Primitif.

This book describes the Star as a sign of good luck and divine intervention.

The Star card continued to be popular throughout the 16th and 17th centuries, and it began to be associated with astrology and other mystical practices.

The star card was often used as a signifier of hope and guidance in times of darkness.

When you look at the card from the Rider-Waite-Smith deck, you see a naked woman bending down near the pool's edge as she has two water containers.

Her left hand carrying the container represents her subconscious, and her right hand bearing the cup represents her conscious.

She is pouring out the water onto the ground to nourish the earth and pours the water onto dry land.

She also has one foot in the ground, which means she is grounded, and the other foot is in the water representing intuition.

She is naked because she shows her vulnerable side as there is also the starry sky in the background.

You will see in the background that there is a giant star and seven smaller ones that represent the chakras, as there are seven of them.

Now, let's talk about what the Star card means in a reading.

The Star Tarot In A Reading

The Star often appears when you're going through a difficult time and need some hope and guidance.

It symbolizes the light at the end of the tunnel and encourages you to keep moving forward despite your troubles.

It is always a great card to see when you are having a reading, particularly if you are having a difficult time.

This card can also represent dreams or aspirations and encourages you to reach for the stars!

If The Star appears in your reading, it's a sign that you should stay positive and have faith that things will turn out for the best.

If you're looking for some guidance on your path, The Star is a great card to consult.

It reminds you that there is always light at the end of the tunnel and that you should never give up hope.

Another thing that the Star tarot card is also associated with is creativity, inspiration, and motivation.

So if you are feeling stuck creatively or need some extra inspiration, this card may appear for you.

It's also a sign that your hard work is starting to pay off.

How does the Star tarot card relate to Risa's situation?

Unfortunately, it doesn't because she has lost all hope for a better future, and she has lost all hope for anything changing for the better.

And that is unfortunate. She is going through the motions, and you can envision it.

Risa takes care of everyone without acknowledging her wants and needs and is burned out.

She does not believe anything will get better. She has no hope.

The Star card does not exist in her perspective, but that is untrue.

The Star card can certainly apply to her, but she will never believe it, and that is the case for those who give up in general.

Unfortunately, many people with mental illnesses share the same perspective regarding the Star as Risa does, as they do not believe in hope.

And that has even been the case, more so during the pandemic.

However, those who struggle with mental illness that feels that the Star tarot card applies to them will be the ones to actively seek out therapy and other ways to manage their mental illnesses or trauma so they can live decent lives.

The same applies to anyone who struggles with physical illnesses, regardless of whether or not there is a cure on the horizon.

As long as they see even a flicker of light at the end of the tunnel, then that will motivate people to find a way to make themselves better.

What about the Star in reverse?

Star In Reverse

The Star in reverse represents missed opportunities. It can mean delays in anything you are looking forward to, despair, and disappointments.

It can also be indicative of illness. Sadly, that applies more to Risa's situation as she not only lost hope but sabotaged herself from improving her life, such as quitting therapy.

And everyone has experienced Star in reverse cases in their lives at one point or another.

An example is someone who keeps applying to one job after another and keeps facing one rejection after another.

Finally, that individual will get to a point where they cannot keep applying to different jobs, and then they are resigned to staying in the job they do not like.

Another example of the Star in reverse has been how the pandemic has evolved.

When you think we are entering the endemic phase, a new variant of concern comes up and then blows everything up again.

But here is the thing to remember, all pandemics do end, and this one will too.

Eventually, we will end up in the endemic phase, and it will stay that way, but it has been disheartening to watch how long this has been going on.

So, how can you apply the Star in your life?

How To Apply The Star In Your Life

There are several ways to do this. The Star is associated with creativity, so you can find creative ways to deal with problems.

Anyone can come up with solutions unless they don't have the cognitive function to do so.

Not all issues can disappear, unfortunately, but there are ways you can work around them the best way you can.

And, if you happen to encounter a Tower situation where something terrible and unexpected happened, such as getting into a car accident, that is the time to apply the Star card after going through the emotions of shock.

What can you do to create a hopeful situation in the end?

You will need support. You cannot do it alone.

But that is when you will need to figure out how you can somewhat bounce back from it in the best way you can.

And finally, if you are struggling with mental health issues, keep reaching out for support, and you do have to accept that if the condition severely impacts you, you will face the issue for life.

But you can manage it with the proper support and help and have the hope that you can live a decent life despite that being the case.

So the next card I will go over will be the Moon, and we are almost done with the Major Arcana series.
