The concept of Web3 has attracted major attention in the past moths. The bull market is coming and we will witness a war between web2 and web3. Phala, as one of the most competitive Web3 cloud projects, is working hard to optimize and implement its core products. We aim to serve as a high-performance cloud services to all the blockchains and enterprises with privacy.

—— Marvin Tong, Co-founder of Phala Network

Phala Network is honored to be participating in the 3rd ETHDenver, Feb 15–16th in Denver, Colorado.

With the many talented hackers, Web3.0 system thinkers and blockchain enthusiasts from around the world attending Denver Blockchain Week, there come opportunities to expand one’s knowledge about blockchain projects across the ecosystem. ETHDenver provides that medium for us all to attend workshops or technical talks from the top minds in blockchain technology and empower us all to continue to build with new tools or skills we learn along the way.

Phala at ETHDenver

Phala plans to approach a question not mentioned often at this year ETHDenver: What does the Web3 infrastructure look like beyond today’s smart contract? At Phala Network’s workshop on Feb 15th at 11 am, we address the question with the development of our Fat Contracts and Web3 computing cloud.

Today’s development of Web3 and Metaverse raises new requirements on the blockchain infrastructure. A trend of running heavy-weight applications like real-time rendering and game servers on decentralized computing services is emerging.

We show how Phala provides trustless computing service of over tens of thousands of nodes, and present the Fat Contract which intends to serve compute-intensive and low-latency applications which have never been executed on-chain. With its Internet access ability, you are free to utilize any existing Web2 services with tens of lines of contract code, making it a perfect choice to connect the Web2 and Web3 world.

What is a Fat Contract?

A new type of smart contract product that focuses on serving Web3 back-end function-level services.

The Fat Contract is designed for the following use cases:

  • For low latency requirements, such as in multiplayer online games
  • Scenarios of off-chain interoperation, such as Oracle, decentralized chat, or communication services (Telegram or email)
  • Scenarios where privacy matters, such as data market platform
  • Large-scale real-time computing programs, such as Metaverse, games, NFT rendering, artificial intelligence (recommendation engine, etc.)

Come through and bring the crew to our workshop to learn about Phala Network and get some swag. Also, meet and speak with our team members Zoe Meckbach and Joshua Waller that will be in attendance.

You can also talk to more of our core members and community on Discord. Also, follow us on Twitter for the latest updates on development and partnerships.

We Are Hiring!

🙋 Rust Blockchain Core Software Engineer

At Phala Network, you will end-to-end participate in the core system design, development, test and deployment. You will deal with the crypto primitives like Merkle Proof, Key Agreement and DKG.

Here the engineers don’t only focus on the development. You may discuss and debate on the security of the protocol with information security experts, talk about the evolution of the system with economists, or immerse yourself in the tech community and spread the technology you believe in.

Responsibilities

  • Substrate Pallets and Ink! smart contract development
  • Develop core system including WASM VM, storage, and network
  • Develop advanced features including HTTP request, network routing, distributed db, etc
  • Explore the application on Phala
  • Documentation, testing, release

About Phala

Phala Network tackles the issue of trust in the computation cloud.

By organizing a decentralized network of computation nodes around the world, it offers high-performance services without relying on any cloud vendor. Phala workers run the programs in Secure Enclaves, a privacy technology already embedded into modern processors, enabling versatile and confidential execution. Together, this creates the infrastructure for a powerful, secure, and scalable trustless computing cloud.
