The news hit like a ton bricks:
First of all, we'd like to thank you for being a user of Spotify Stations, the beta app we have been testing. We have decided to not extend the rollout of this experience, and we wish to inform you that as of May 16, 2022, the Stations app and web player will no longer be available.
To say I’m annoyed is putting it mildly.
This is my favorite feature/product in the Spotify Universe. I listen to playlists via the Stations App everyday.
The Stations app, Spotify’s lightweight listening app that offers easy access to curated playlists, first arrived on the market, initially for Android users in Australia, back in 2018.
The app was designed for those who want a more radio-like experience, rather than having to seek out music or customize their own playlists — both of which take time and effort.
To try and help ease the pain for certain users who might be bummed about the move, Spotify did note that Spotify Radio provides a similar easy listening experience.
