Re signing bonuses, I wonder if existing employees get them too - otherwise you have a resentful existing workforce getting paid less than newcomers or everyone churns to get signing bonuses elsewhere.
There is a delicious irony to American suing Sabre over search results - of course American built and owned Sabre and they were the pioneers in fudging search results so that American flights would come out on top when travel agents searched their gds - they worked all of this out a decade before the internet even existed.
