I can’t think about the Iran nuclear agreement—which increasingly looks like a lifeless corpse—without getting angry. It’s infuriating that Donald Trump pulled out of it when Tehran was abiding by its terms. It’s infuriating that Joe Biden didn’t immediately offer to lift all nuclear sanctions when he entered office, back when a more moderate Iranian leadership may have been willing to revive the deal. It’s infuriating that Benjamin Netanyahu’s top security aides now admit they knew Trump and Netanyahu’s claim that the US could leave the deal, impose “maximum pressure,” and make the Iranians cave “
Wonderful writing, we are on the edge of a new Cold War. I was brought up in that era in Latin America and that was a disaster for us: Remember Nicaragua, Colombia, Chile, etc. Congratulations, you've done such an excellent analysis.
If the DSA wants a more socialist America, it needs to break with the ultra-capitalist, deeply imperialist Democratic party. There will never be a means to hold ostensibly socialist representatives to account as their only loyalty is to the ruling class.
"The solution to Jamaal Bowman’s betrayal — and that of other DSA-endorsed politicians who’ve acted in direct contradiction to the organization’s principles — is not to expend more energy on crafting mechanisms of accountability. No amount of organizational discussions around censure and expulsion will meaningfully bring these politicians to account or make the strategy of working within the Democratic party any less bankrupt.
Rather, socialist politicians need to be elected on the basis of a socialist program in a working-class party — a party independent of all capitalist, imperialist parties. "

Perhaps we should think the problem is China trying to subjugate a neighboring country and force other countries to accept its will
