I'd bring two books to jury duty, just in case. One would be a safety book, something from a favorite author. The other would be a wild card, probably a non fiction book about a topic I want to know more about.
Have you read Judith Tarr? Lady of Horses, White Mare's Daughter, and Daughter of Lir, among others. Ancient historical fantasy! Lot's of fun! Lady of Horses is the prequel to White Mare's Daughter. Daughter of Lir is the sequel. Beautifully written with lots of amazing horses, which made them especially appealing to me.
