Yes... it appears that he is speaking with a forked tongue but, I suspect he will abolish the filibuster when it comes down to a breaking point if need be or hold on to that decision for another fight. In the meantime he is accomplishing a few things. The people are getting out-raged and paying attention and we are ripe for change while the Republicans are getting less popular with many and weakened. With time more people are activated who oppose cronyism & totalitarianism. I agree with Mac Regan... Biden is the one holding the aces... Trump knew this back in 2016 and he spent his entire presidency trying to dethrone Biden's grip. As usual, a thoughtful article. Cami

Another good article Greg. Thanks! My hope is that Biden is playing his hand carefully. An outright call for the abolishment of the filibuster may not serve him well with moderates, independents and defecting republicans turned off by Trump and the anti-democratic activities of the GOP. Perhaps it is better for a new Voter Rights Act and/or filibuster busting to be the work of the House and Senate. This would allow Biden to play mediator rather than partisan. Maybe a better strategy?

Of course, at some point Biden will need to be an advocate of voter-driven majority rule if the GOP is successful in its attempts to suppress voters and promote State legislative ability to appoint electors in defiance of the popular vote. There is a real risk that this will be an issue. Should it come to this, Biden will need to fight as you suggest. Best, Mac
