Mumbai News Highlights: Mumbai reports 7,895 Covid cases, 11 deaths

Mumbai Covid-19 Active Cases Today, Maharashtra, Mumbai Omicron Cases Latest News, Mumbai Weather News Updates, 16 Jan: Maharashtra logged 42,462 new coronavirus cases and 23 deaths. The state also reported 125 new Omicron cases, raising their overall count to 1,730.

Mumbai News Updates: Mumbai recorded 7,895 new Covid-19 cases and 11 deaths on Sunday. A total of 84 per cent of people out of the fresh Covid cases were asymptomatic. As of Sunday evening, the total tally of Covid cases was 60,371.

Maharashtra reported 41,327 fresh Covid-19 cases and 29 deaths on Sunday. Active cases in the state are 2,65,346. Omicron cases reported on Sunday were eight taking the total Omicron tally in the state to 1,738.

In other news, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) launched a Whatsapp chatbot on Sunday to help citizens get information about their nearest health services. It is India’s first city administration chatbot and is offering citizen services in English and Marathi.

Mumbai on Saturday reported 10,661 new Covid-19 cases with 11 deaths, the highest single-day toll in six months. The city on July 29, 2021, had reported 13 deaths and the mortality figure had started declining after that.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra on Saturday logged 42,462 new coronavirus cases — a slight decline from Friday’s tally of 43,211 — and 23 deaths.

Meanwhile, the strike-hit Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation on Friday said around 26,500 employees have rejoined duty and bus operations had resumed partially from 215 depots. Since October 28, a vast majority of the 92,000-odd MSRTC staffers are on strike demanding that the undertaking be merged with the state government, and the stir intensified on November 9 after bus operations got paralyzed in almost all depots.
