Acala is thrilled to return to ETHDenver for an EVM+ workshop during the conference’s much-anticipated #BUIDLWeek. Come meet the team, earn up to $5000 in prizes, and check out the workshop in person and online on Feb 15, 2022.

Meet Acala, Your Gateway to Polkadot Liquidity

Acala is a layer-1 smart contract platform that’s scalable, Ethereum-compatible, and optimized for DeFi with built-in liquidity and ready-made financial applications. With its decentralized stablecoin (aUSD), trustless exchange, DOT Liquid Staking (LDOT), and a custom EVM+, Acala lets developers access the best of Ethereum with the full power of Substrate.

A Novel Framework for Web3

Substrate is the modular framework for building blockchains. It’s the architectural foundation of the Polkadot ecosystem, and by extension Acala.

As a self-sovereign blockchain that’s connected to Polkadot’s Relay Chain, Acala leverages Substrate to customize its layer-1 for DeFi at the blockchain level. This allows for the Acala ecosystem to offer dApp-friendly features like Bring Your Own Gas (a way for users to pay transaction fees in any tokens) and upgradability to keep your project future-proof. As one potential path for development, Substrate modules can be created to build new DApps and functionality into Acala’s blockchain.

But when it comes to Ethereum developers, Acala’s EVM+ delivers exciting new capabilities for Buidlers.

Discover the + in Acala’s EVM+

Thanks to its custom EVM+, devs can utilize familiar Ethereum toolsets like Metamask, Truffle, and Waffle while leveraging a suite of apps that let users trade, issue self-serviced loans, become liquidity providers, and earn high-interest APY on their digital assets. It’s essentially your ticket to programmable Polkadot assets.

What’s more, the EVM+ offers custom chain-level features like Scheduler, an Ethereum-compatible, smart-contract platform that not only enables deployment of Solidity builds with familiar toolsets (Metamask, Truffle, Waffle), but also delivers chain-level features unique to Substrate: including customizable economy policy; flexible fees, which allow users to pay transaction fees with any of the supported tokens; on-chain auto scheduler (e.g. Keepers); native cross-chain capabilities; an on-chain governance apparatus; and full-upgradability (without contract migrations).

Bounty 1

  • Objective: Deploy a DApp on Polkadot using Acala EVM+
  • Reward: $1000

Bounty 2

  • Objective: Deploy a DApp on Acala EVM+ that integrates with Acala’s decentralized stablecoin, aUSD
  • Reward: $4000

Judging Criteria

  • Strength of aUSD stablecoin use case (25%) — Includes how much utility and demand the DApp creates for aUSD.
  • Originality, Creativity, and Innovation (25%) — Includes how new and novel the submission is versus existing technologies.
  • Technical Difficulty (25%) — Includes the level of skill or knowledge required to build the DApp.
  • User Experience (25%) — Includes how intuitive and understandable the submission is for potential users.

Submission Requirements

Include in your submission’s README.md file:

  • Submission title
  • Submission description
  • If submitting for Bounty #2, description of how theaUSD stablecoin is integrated
