Job Description

Twitter is seeking a passionate Senior Experience Researcher to join the research team working on the Twitter Developer Platform, which builds and owns Twitter’s public Application Programing Interface (API). The mission of the Twitter Developer Platform is to unlock developer creativity & innovation to serve the public conversation. The Twitter API has been used by millions of developers to build integrations with Twitter, from “hello world” apps in classroom settings to the most-used consumer and business products in the world. We help businesses, academics and hobbyists to understand what is happening in the public conversation, engage with people on Twitter, learn how to code, play by creating unique Twitter interactions and enhance the core Twitter experience itself. As researchers at Twitter, we have a direct impact on product strategy, roadmaps, and the detailed design of new experiences.  We are part of a larger design and research team that’s full of amazingly talented and fun people who are passionate about Twitter’s ability to help people see beyond themselves and connect with the larger world in a meaningful way.

Qualifications

As a research member of our Experience Research team focused on the Twitter Developer Platform, you will lead the proactive discovery, exploration and development of strategic customer-centric insights around the goals that our developers are trying to achieve.  You will also build productive relationships with cross-functional partners in Product, Engineering, Data Science and Design and collaborate with other research teams to connect the dots, seed ideas, and help drive better business decision-making. As a thought leader, your research will sharpen product development strategies, which will help fuel long-term sustainable revenue growth for Twitter.

Who You Are:

You are an experienced researcher with a strong, working understanding of a wide range of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies. You know exactly when to engage with teams across Design, Product, Engineering, and Marketing, what questions to ask, where to probe, and how to implement the most effective research strategies. You are a creative problem-solver who seeks to deeply understand the business so that you can define the most actionable and strategic research plans. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy setting your own research goals, managing load and expectations, and delivering actionable research findings, a point of view, and recommendations. You’re passionate about Twitter and believe great experiences are always inspired by a deep understanding of the user. 

Responsibilities

  • Lead the proactive discovery, exploration and development of insights to drive strategy

  • Execute a variety of qualitative and quantitative research methods and how to synthesize them together. Methodologies may include ethnographic research, in-depth interviews, concept testing, remote usability testing and surveys 

  • Partner with Design, Engineering,Product, Data Science, and our Customers team to build in research at multiple stages of the product development process to inform the direction of our products and experiences

  • Deliver creative and impactful insights stories that engage our partners and also elevate the Experience Research function as a whole

  • Lead purposeful relationship-building with a wide array of partners and other research teams

Required Competencies

  • Strong foundational knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research tools and techniques

  • Have demonstrated experience discovering, synthesizing, and socializing actionable insights that have shaped product strategy and produced a business impact

Preferred Requirements:

  • Minimum of 6+ years driving research projects at an agency, in-house, or both for technology companies, mobile software products and systems or in the B2B space 

  • Developer Research experience is a plus, but not mandatory

  • Bachelor's Degree (minimum requirement) Human Computer Interaction, Cognitive or Experimental Psychology, Computer Science, or a related field
