The Position

The Sustainability team is seeking to expand our Sustainability Engagement efforts to support the development and implementation of Twitter’s sustainability strategy, with a focus on bridging sustainability objectives with our stakeholder and external partner strategy. 

The Sustainability Engagement Lead will seek to elevate awareness and the recognition of Twitter’s sustainability strategy, objectives, and performance to drive strong partnership and identify engagement opportunities that drive collective impact.

Here are some of the things you’ll do

The Sustainability Engagement Lead will report to the Director of Sustainability, and have responsibility for the following:

  • Support comprehensive stakeholder engagement strategy, collaborating internally and externally to ensure alignment with Twitter’s sustainability strategy.
  • Support strategic engagement with external organizations, including academic, scientific groups, NGOs,  thought leaders and advocacy organizations, including setting relationship goals, and guiding productive dialogue
  • Skilled at forming strong partnerships that advance our sustainability goals and profile among stakeholders
  • Co-develop ongoing change management activities for internal stakeholders with communications counterpart
  • Managing project timelines and internal review and approval processes, including engagement with key stakeholders.
  • Working with teams responsible for Twitter’s disclosure requirements to ensure consistency across all reporting venues
  • Conducting annual benchmarking of Twitter’s sustainability reporting, including identification of market best practices and opportunities for continued improvements/enhancements
  • Identify and develop metrics for external reporting that are responsive to stakeholder needs and that highlight Twitter’s commitment to sustainability, stewardship and transparency
  • Partner with subject matter experts to assess and communicate key risk and opportunities
  • Research, collate, analyze, and communicate relevant customer, supply chain, and other stakeholder expectations/requirements/standards, best practices and provide strategic insight to the Director of Sustainability
  • Following market trends, best practices, reporting frameworks and policy/regulation to position Twitter’s strategy as industry-leading
  • Partnering with Internal & External Communications and Brand/Marketing teams to develop and execute a strategy to enhance internal and external communications on sustainability, with a key focus on Twitter’s climate efforts
  • Developing and updating internal & external landing pages and resources
  • Creating and coordinating internal programming (e.g., spaces, panels, discussions, intranet articles) for key events such as Earth Day, Climate Week and others
     

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in corporate sustainability, communications, and/or consulting/strategy roles, preferably with a range of experience across different functions and/or businesses including but not limited to communications.
  • Skilled communicator with extensive experience developing positive stakeholder engagement initiatives.
  • Passion for and understanding of sustainability issues and trends, as well as industry best practices and frameworks relating to sustainability and impact communication
  • Exceptional project management and organizational skills, including attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence, work collaboratively with others, and proactively cultivate relationships with a diverse range of internal and external partners
  • Experience developing different types of communication materials such as case studies, websites, reports, slide decks, and resource documents
  • Excellent writing and verbal presentation skills, with the ability to distill and communicate complex details into consumable insights
  • Experience running successful Twitter campaigns 
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Strong executive presence, with the ability to present to senior management and external stakeholders
  • Ability to excel in a high-performance, professional environment, while managing multiple projects under tight deadlines
  • Strong initiative, entrepreneurial spirit and ability to think creatively
  • A high level of enthusiasm, creativity, self-motivation, resourcefulness, and effectiveness as a team player with experience of leading and influencing internal and external resources to ensure successful outcomes.
