Application Security Engineering is driving tooling, services, and features to help keep Twitter’s users secure, and using technology to build bridges between Twitter’s developers and its security experts. This software engineering team drives cross-functional work across Twitter’s back-end services, security engagement & review tools, security visibility and testing, and collaborates with cross-functional partners across Twitter.

What You’ll Do:

  • Support a diverse team of talented engineers. 

  • Build a cohesive, high-functioning team that thrives in a culture of trust, respect, and inclusion

  • Have the technical capacity to partner with technical leaders across Twitter, and to be comfortable leading a team through complex challenges

  • Take ownership for the team’s short-term and long-term strategy

  • Define the team's roadmap, success metrics, and priorities in close collaboration with other engineering teams and multi-functional partners

  • Work closely with the Twitter recruiting team to hire high-potential candidates from a diverse group of backgrounds.

  • Support the career development of every engineer on your team

Qualifications

Requirements:

Have most, but not necessarily all of the following:

  • A strong desire to help protect Twitter users and their data

  • 2+ years experience working cross-functionally and managing a team in one or more of the following areas: 

    • application security

    • product security

    • secure software engineering

    • core library software engineering

  • 5+ years progressive experience in several, but not necessarily all of the following areas: 

    • application security engineering

    • secure code review

    • building common code used across many distributed applications

    • security education for developers

    • site reliability engineering

    • security-oriented customer success or support

    • security consulting

    • customer-facing software engineering

    • technical program management or project management

  • Comfortable collaborating with the team plus partner teams and stakeholders in making data-driven decisions and delivering short and long-term priorities and roadmaps as a team

  • Experience and interest in helping team members grow as engineers and a team

 

Bonus Points!

  • Comfortable helping the team stick to and iterate on a minimal set of consistent software development practices e.g. sprint retrospectives, standup, participating in periodic team and org-level IPMs

  • Keeps up with application-layer security research or even publishes original security research or open source software through blogs, whitepapers, giving talks, attending conferences. You don’t have to be interested in security outside the job, but if you are, it’s welcome!
