Mines of Dalarnia 2.0 and Plot Sale

Mines of Dalarnia character screen

Mines of Dalarnia cranks their visuals up several notches with the 2.0 release, and gives us details about their upcoming Plot sale. In addition to mining for resources, players will also own land plots and rent them out, for a small fee of course! Combined with the much improved graphics, Mines of Dalarnia may just be ready to step into a bigger spotlight!

After running an early alpha version on the Chromia testnet for some time now, Mines of Dalarnia is ready to make the leap to version 2.0, bringing something every blockchain gamer loves to hear, land ownership!

Plots in Mines of Dalarnia are NFTs. About 20% of the plots in game will be public plots. These are open to all and provide a starting point in the game for new players. However, the resources in these plots are limited to common types. If a player wishes to advance very far in the game, they will need Rare resources. And those are only found in the privately owned plots. Each plot has three Depths. As you might expect, deeper Depths means greater rewards, but also greater potential for catastrophe. Players need higher level equipment to even venture into the deeper Depths. Each plot also has its own biome, and selection of resources. Smart miners will shop around to find the best plot for their needs.

Plot owners aren’t just given free income, though. Over time, the resources available in a plot diminish as more miners use the plot. So owners who don’t maintain their plot, will soon find that they have very few renters. In order to replenish the resources on a plot, the plot owner must use a a consumable called ‘Terraforming Capsule’.

Capsules are ONLY created by players. With the right number of resources and a fee of DAR tokens, any player can make a Capsule, either for their own use or to sell on the market to other players! This creates a nice economic feedback loop for the in-game economy.

Where do I buy Plots?

The first planet available in the game is Terra Prime. Players need to deposit at least 100 DAR to the official site. Deposits open on December 27th and snapshots begin on January 10th, ending on January 16th. It’s unclear as what this means exactly. Some say it will be a raffle/ticketing system, but no official word on that. Hopefully more details will be revealed to us soon!

In addition to the information about land ownership, the Mines of Dalarnia team has also given us a number of previews of the improved graphics for 2.0. The difference is pretty astounding, and changes what looked like a cute side project for some CS majors, into a quality game that deserves a second chance from anyone who may have passed on it before.

What is Mines of Dalarnia?

Mines of Dalarnia is a mining, platforming, PvE game developed by Worinman Studio and Chromia Studios. Running on the Chromia blockchain, Mines of Dalarnia is free-to-play and browser-based. Racing against time, players mine exotic materials in hostile environments, then use the materials to upgrade their equipment and abilities.

Players own land plots in-game, and rent them out for miners. Plots come in four different terrain types: terrestrial, lava, ice, and darkness. Owners may also upgrade their lands to provide more resources. Upgrading requires resources from the miners, creating an in-game economy around keeping the plots maintained.

With most mining adventures lasting less than 5 minutes, Mines of Dalarnia is very casual friendly. The game is currently in its alpha phase, open to all, and running on the Chromia testnet.
