Annual revenue and profit at Plus500 is set to “significantly” exceed market expectations as the online trading platform benefits from the rise in market volatility because of the Ukraine crisis.

In an unscheduled trading update today, the FTSE 250 company said its trading in the second quarter had continued to be “very strong”, boosted also by the development of new technologies and products, which it said would “deliver growth and drive expansion and diversification across new geographies”.

The consensus forecast among analysts in the City had been for revenue this year of $628.4 million and underlying earnings of $290.5 million.
