After initially launching their latest play-to-earn event, titled Blessing of the $GODS, in early November of 2021, the Gods Unchained team announced that it would be extended for an extra four weeks. Through January 24th, 2022, active players earn $GODS tokens by playing games and meeting certain minimum qualifications for matches played and matches won.
The base system for Blessing of the $GODS event remains the same. Each week begins on Monday, 4pm PST, and ends on the following Monday at 3:59pm PST. During that time, anyone who plays 20 or more ranked games, wins at least 7 ranked games, is at least rank 4 (Purified Iron) by the end of the weekly period, and has played at least 17 unique opponents, receives a share of the $GODS pool for that week. Players earn bonus points for reaching higher ranks. And for meeting 2x or 3x the minimum matches, games won, and unique opponents. At the end of the week, the pool is split among all eligible players based on how many points they have for that week.
This system encourages play throughout the week, rather than having most of the play to earn gaming focused on the Ranked weekend. It allows room for casual and hardcore players to play whenever they like and as much as they like while still being able to reap the rewards of this event.
Blessing of the $GODS: Part 2
This extension, referred to as ‘Part 2’ by the GU team, is slightly different in how the reward pool is determined. In Part 1, the $GODS rewards pool increases based on the number of active players that week. From a base pool of 100,000 tokens up to 500,000 tokens if there were more than 100,000 active players. For Part 2 (starting on December 28th), the calculations are based on number of eligible players instead. That means only players who were eligible for the event rewards. Since this will be a smaller group of players, the reward pool changes a bit as well.
Base weekly reward pool = 80,000 $GODS
Reach 15,000 eligible players = 105,000 $GODS
20,000 eligible players = 150,000 $GODS
25,000 eligible players = 212,500 $GODS
30,000 eligible players = 255,000 $GODS
35,000+ eligible players = 315,000 $GODS
You can see that the total amount of $GODS token available decreases quite a bit. But, the number of players needed to reach the higher tiers also shrinks significantly. With an astounding 300% weekly active player growth since the event started, reaching those higher reward tiers may not be a problem! This event ends on January 24th, so don’t wait too long before joining the fray!
What is Gods Unchained?
Gods Unchained is a free to play, collectible card game built on the Ethereum blockchain, that uses the Immutable X layer-2 solution. The blockchain stores all ownership of the cards, giving players full ownership over their own set of cards. Players earn digital ‘Core’ cards by playing the game. When a player has two identical Core cards, they can mint these into one blockchain-based card. That card is then tradeable on the Immutable X market for zero gas fees.
Gods Unchained features several play to earn mechanics. Players gain cards by being active players, win packs by competing in the weekend tournaments, and earn $GODS tokens during the Blessing of the Gods event.
The third card set after Genesis and Trial of the Gods, Divine Order introduces several new game mechanics and 190 new cards. Even though the Divine Order set is still undergoing balance changes, players can buy and open packs from the official site.
