When he was 10 years old, Don Gorske told his dad that when he grew up, he was going to eat at McDonald’s every day of his life.
“When you’re a kid, you say a lot of stupid stuff,” says Gorske, now 68. “Who knew that it would come true?”
The Fond du Lac, Wis., man is living his childhood dream — this week, he marked a sesame-seed-crowned milestone when he celebrated 50 years in which he has eaten at least one Big Mac nearly every day. (The handful of exceptions include one day when his local restaurant was closed for snow.) Since 1972, Gorske has consumed 32,943 of the fast-food chain’s signature sandwich. Some days, he eats two.
