Sr. Director, Career Experience Design, Strategy & Operations

  • Full-time

Job Description

Who We Are:

Twitter is what’s happening and what people are talking about right now. For us, life's not about a job, it's about purpose. We believe real change starts with conversation. Here, your voice matters. Come as you are and together we'll do what's right (not what's easy) to serve the public conversation.

We’re looking for a leader to oversee all of our central operations including planning, program design and activation, tools and systems, and reporting. This role will also own a wide range of special projects across our global career development program portfolio, in partnership with the VP Career Experience. The Career Experience (CE) org helps people grow their careers and increase their impact @Twitter (and beyond). We lead with empathy, question the status quo, and ensure opportunities are fair and accessible for all. How? By creating programs and resources that make it easy for all of our Tweeps, everywhere, to identify their strengths, address gaps, and understand how their work plays a role in building Twitter for the better.

What You’ll Do:

You’ll be a critical partner to the VP Career Experience, and will partner with senior leaders within CE and across the People team to build, connect, and transform our career programs globally. Your job will be one part operations expert, one part Chief of Staff, two parts Chief Problem Solver. You’ll help our org find ways to scale and work effectively together. You’ll take nebulous, ill-defined concepts and dive in to design lasting solutions. You will think “big picture” to set strategic direction but will also roll up your sleeves to build project charters and timelines.

In this role, you will:

  • Oversee a group of teams including Strategy & Operations, CE Experience Design (CrED), and Global Learning Creative.

  • Lead strategic initiatives from development through execution, in partnership with the VP Career Experience and senior leaders across the People Team.

  • Manage and structure emergent work streams that don’t fit cleanly into CE team’s org structure or objectives.

  • Accountable for CE’s communication strategy to provide relevant updates within our team, and to our People team and business partners (e.g. HRBPs, Talent Acquisition, S&O).

  • Oversee our Program Effectiveness structure to help our team run, optimize and evaluate our ongoing career programs (e.g. New Hire Onboarding, Promotions, etc) throughout the programs’ lifecycle.

  • Represent CE org in Twitter-wide processes/operations that impact all Twitter functions (“how we work”, People team Onboarding, cross-functional projects, etc.) as needed.

Who You Are:

We’re looking for an experienced leader who is uniquely skilled at operational excellence, making something out of nothing, collaborating without boundaries, and navigating confusion with aplomb. You are results oriented, have excellent attention to detail, are capable of being an inspiring leader within Twitter, and enjoy collaborating closely with stakeholders to tackle their most pressing issues.

You possess these skills:

  • Ability to review, create and implement processes and workflows that support effective teamwork across a large, global organization.

  • Extremely organized and detail oriented while working in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure. Understands how things affect one another in an overall system.

  • Able to handle confidential information with a high level of professionalism and discretion.

  • Great interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills and the ability to interact with staff at all levels. Ability to create and maintain a healthy work environment and team culture.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, and entrepreneurial environment and versatility to manage multiple projects, priorities, and urgent issues successfully and simultaneously. Proactive, flexible and a strong decision making ability.

  • A self-starter, highly motivated, and able to shift directions quickly when priorities change.

  • Ability to spot red flags and escalate roadblocks or challenges to appropriate channels.

  • Ability to think through problems and come up with innovative solutions that best fit the needs of the business and deliver against very tight deadlines.

  • Strong working knowledge of HR Programs and systems, with a focus on learning and development, workforce strategy, talent management, performance management, and/or career development preferred.

  • Strong understanding of change management best practices and implementation, with a deep obsession with solving customer problems.

  • A global mindset, positive attitude, and passion for Twitter.

If this sounds like you, you probably have experience with:

  • Creating and driving people-related strategies and best practices.

  • Developing strategy documents, project charters and pitches for leadership.

  • Identifying trends, gaps, and opportunities based on data.

  • Leading project-based work and managing interdependencies between various programs and implementations.

  • HR or Talent Development program/project management in a complex multi-functional and global environment.

  • Communicating directly with cross-functional partners, including effective conflict management, prioritizing and managing stakeholder requests.

  • Leading development and execution of communication plans, communication collateral, training and change adoption strategies.

  • Presenting to groups at all levels and the ability to answer questions with poise and confidence, while relating in an approachable manner.

  • Assisting in retrospectives, feedback gathering and data analysis to drive proactive planning for future development.
