About This Role

The Health Equity Capability Lead will be accountable for driving the strategy and capabilities to ensure diverse representation in our clinical trials that are representative of the disease being treated. The lead will support the Head of Health Equity in maintaining an effective operating model to help drive improvements in clinical trial participation across under-represented groups. Influencing via a matrix organization, they will need to leverage diverse and varied individuals across Patient Engagement Equity & Transparency (PEET), Global Clinical Operations, and Biogen to deliver on all activities. This matrix includes representatives from across Biogen who are passionate about leading change. The Lead will drive Patient-Focused Drug Development (PFDD) through activities that impact the study participant experience.  They are highly engaged with external partners and vendors supporting the HE strategy and deliverables. They will support the Head of Health Equity in establishing/updating R&D policy, developing/continuous improvement of processes, selecting/overseeing vendors, and optimizing technology/data to ensure Biogen can ensure representation in clinical trials.  The lead must remain informed of patient needs, industry trends and the evolving external environment to keep Biogen at the forefront of health equity and PFDD.

 

What You’ll Do

·       Identify, select and oversee vendors for DE&I work

·       Process improvements initiatives within PEET

·       Spend within the AOP plan

·       External engagements to drive overall mission and goals

·       Support building and executing on the strategy for the PEET health equity capabilities including policy, process, vendor selection & oversight, and technology optimization to oversee and support delivery across a matrixed environment

·       Be a subject matter expert to PEET delivery team in building DE&I into program and study patient engagement strategies

·       Reporting on Health Equity dashboard, vendor and initiative performance and KPIs

Who You Are

We are looking for an experienced Health Equity Lead who is passionate about listening to the patient voice to inform the patient engagement strategy and who has insights and is mindful about how best to connect with and inform under represented patient populations to help them understand clinical research and choose the right trial for them.

 

Qualifications

Required Skills:

 

·       Bachelors degree with 6+ years OR Associates degree with 8+ years OR HSD with 10+ years of clinical research / project management experience including clinical site and CRO or sponsor experience.

·       Direct experience with recruitment and retention

·       Proven track record in designing, implementing and delivering on patient engagement strategies inclusive of how to best address health disparities and diverse enrollment

·       Experience of working with patient recruitment and retention vendors and CRO partners

·       Strong project management skills

·       Demonstrated ability to work in a cross functional team

·       A clear communicator

Preferred:

 

·       Preferred Masters degree with 10+ years relevant industry experience

·       Experience of working in a sponsor company

·       Experience of working in health equity/DE&I initiatives
