Job Description

This application is for a 6-month student role from July to December 2022. This role can be either part-time (~25 hours/week) or full-time (40 hours/week).

The Business Development Team at Biogen supports Biogen’s overall corporate strategy by targeting, evaluating, and executing external growth opportunities for Biogen. Examples of these opportunities include research agreements, collaborations, strategic alliances, licenses, mergers and acquisitions. Team members lead the assessment of growth opportunities, partners with External Innovation and R&D teams, lead due diligence, and negotiate transactions. This position will have access to highly sensitive and confidential information of both Biogen and other companies.   

Position Description 

You will work closely with the Business Development Team to progress business development opportunities into actionable transactions. You will also support Business Development Operations as needed.  

Examples of project support responsibilities can include, but are not limited to: 

  • Performing research on target companies and their assets, including financial information, the latest relevant scientific data, the regulatory status, indications being studied, mechanisms of action, etc., as required for projects. 
  • Working with the Business Development Team to prepare PowerPoint presentations for internal purposes. 
  • Reviewing financial models, term sheets with the Business Development Team. 
  • Attending meetings with project teams to discuss deal evaluation and progress. 
  • Working with Business Development Operations in the management of internal processes, tracking the progress of deals, maintenance of databases, supporting due diligence teams, as well as other operational matters related to business development transactions. 
  • Other activities as needed to support business development projects. 

Qualifications

Knowledge and/or experience in the following areas preferred:  

  • Pharmaceutical or Biotechnology industry 
  • Finance, including US GAAP accounting, basic financial analysis 
  • Ability to effectively use MS Office (Powerpoint and Excel) 
  • Critical thinking and analysis 

To participate in the Biogen Internship Program, students must meet the following eligibility criteria: 

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. 
  • At least 18 years of age prior to the scheduled start date 
  • Be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university 

Education 

At least a B.S. or a B.A. in a scientific discipline. 

Currently enrolled as a first year MBA student.
