Visa University currently has 2 openings for a Director, NA External (client facing) Learning Consultant.

What an External Learning Consultant does at Visa

The External Learning Consultant will play a crucial role in partnering with client facing sales teams to sell learning solutions to clients in North America (NA).

The successful candidate will understand NA regional business priorities, our client training product roster, and the product roadmap, to deliver against regional sales targets and an overall growth agenda which includes touching new clients, utilizing client incentives, and optimizing profitability.   

This role will report into the NA regional CLO with a dotted line into the Global Head of Business Development.

Key Responsibilities

Selling

  • Be the primary contact for NA leaders and client facing sales teams on client training
  • Develop and manage the sales pipeline to ensure revenue and profit targets will be met
  • Work with sales teams to identify opportunities to sell private training to clients. Develop proposals that meet the needs of our clients, execute contracts and ensure seamless delivery of training programs (with help from delivery excellence)
  • Work with sales teams to fill seats to the NA open enrollment calendar which you will develop and implement to meet the learning needs of NA Clients
  • Identify new business opportunities within NA (e.g new client groups, new distribution channels, portfolio conversions from Mastercard by partnering with BD sales teams)
  • Identify new and renewing contracts where there is an opportunity to include client incentives for learning into the partnership agreement

P&L Management

  • Develop the regional client training revenue and expense plan for NA
  • Manage and report against monthly, quarterly and annual scorecard metrics including revenue, margin, payment method (including client incentives), client and learner penetration
  • Monitor NA Client incentive levels and work closely with sales teams and account owners to ensure clients are utilizing value added services

Marketing

  • Partner with marketing to deliver regionally appropriate marketing messages and campaigns to clients
  • Market Visa University by presenting internally to sales teams and other internal stakeholders to socialize products and services
  • Market Visa University by presenting to clients to socialize products and services
  • Leverage regional marketing resources when/if available to drive awareness and sales for NA
  • Ensure regional client distribution lists are up to date, with help from sales teams

Learning Champion

  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on VU’s product catalogue and learning roadmap to ensure the learning needs of NA clients are considered and incorporated
  • Be a champion of Visa’s learning culture and values and help cultivate these across NA with internal sales stakeholders and with clients

Client Training Experience

  • Partner with Delivery Directors and Delivery Excellence team to ensure seamless execution of all client training, specifically for private engagements
  • Monitor client feedback from training to influence curriculum roadmap and modifications to training delivery

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
• 10 or more years of work experience in learning, consulting, sales or business development with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD; Degree in Business or Learning and Development or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in the payments industry is strongly valued
• Experience in L&D, training needs Analysis (TNA), diagnostics, supporting L&D solutions, and evaluation of L&D projects is strongly valued
• Experience managing a budget with forecasting and sales reporting
• Ability to negotiate business agreements and to enhance existing and develop new business partnerships
• Experience working in a matrixed organization where regional success is dependent on ability to work with extended learning teams
• Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate, consult and influence senior leaders, business partners, internal and external customers, and colleagues to drive business results
• Strong aptitude for working with broad scope of technical, business, and professional subject matter; quick and agile learner
• Strong communication (written and verbal), consulting, stakeholder management, relationship management and influencing skills at all levels in an organization
• Effective track record of using metrics and analytics to drive decision making and increased value generation (sales, satisfaction surveys, etc.)
• Prior experience for revenue generation in excess of US$5M
• Demonstrated ability to drive innovation and change to improve efficiencies and the effectiveness of learning solutions
• Strong collaboration skills, able to engage a wide variety of people in solution design and delivery
• Prior experience selling preferred or experience in B2B sales
• 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD

This position is open to locations in New York, NY and the Bay Area.
