I appreciate that you must be in a difficult spot regarding the Warren Ellis allegations, but I was disappointed that you linked to an article that only mentioned the Cameron Stewart allegations. It seemed to me intentional. I can only hope that things are happening behind the scenes and that you will say something eventually, because the person who wrote about such power dynamics in WicDiv should have something to say. I realize as a fan I'm not entitled to your opinion, but one can hope.
I would agree that it’s not ideal.
I linked to that as it was the only report on a reputable site at the time of writing, and hoped that the actual content of the paragraph talking about believing people and speaking about needing to question ourselves and our own actions rather than anything specifically about Stewart would make it clear I was talking about Ellis too, and the whole system that Katie described in her first (now deleted) thread.
I also know barely anyone clicks through the links - I figured linking to something was better than linking to nothing. But, as I said, I agree it isn’t ideal. If it was later in the day, I’d have linked to Multiversity too.
I will almost certainly be saying more, but I don’t think I’m capable of saying anything with the required precision right now (and also aware that the situation is a moving target - a bleakly huge one). I limited myself to the basics in the newsletter: believe women, examine your complicity in these systems, think of how one can not propagate them any further.
