The Demand for Enterprise Security
Cyberattacks and security threats have become increasingly costly over the past few years: the average cost of a data branch increased from $3.86 million in 2020 to $4.24 million in 2021 (Source). Venture firms are adopting to the rising need for greater security. In 2021, total venture funding for cybersecurity hit a record $21.8 billion. In 2020, venture funding was around 40% of that number. In prior years, the overall funding numbers were significantly less than that. There are three core areas of cybersecurity that continue to be at the forefront: identity security, network security, and endpoint security.
