Fast Checkout launch event: the internet gets an upgrade

Eighteen months ago, Fast Co-Founder and CEO Domm Holland set out to solve a problem.

When Holland’s youngest son was in the hospital for three weeks, his wife’s grandmother came to stay and help out. But one night while she was sitting at the kitchen table trying to order groceries to be delivered, grandma forgot her password for the site—and therefore couldn’t check out.

This illuminated a big problem. In fact, you’ve probably experienced something similar yourself.

Fast forward to 2020. With the COVID-19 outbreak and shelter-in-place mandates, more shoppers turned to online shopping around the globe than ever before. A report from Adobe showed that in June of 2020 alone, ecommerce sales were up 76% year-over-year—and online sales in 2020 are projected to surpass the total online sales of 2019 by as soon as October.

With physical stores required to stay closed and buyer concerns around visiting public spaces, the use of online shopping jumped years ahead in the span of a few short weeks. Even so, online checkout experiences remained frustrating, clunky, and time-consuming.

But no more. Today the internet gets upgraded.

It’s time to go Fast.

Why one-click checkout?

Today, Fast is introducing one-click checkout to eliminate the frustration and friction of online buying as we know it. A team of 60+ industry professionals working around the globe have come together to build the fastest possible checkout experience...and it’s officially live today.

No more forgotten passwords, filling out long forms, or entering your credit card information over and over.

One-click checkout lets shoppers skip all the hassle and buy in just a single click.

Here’s how it works:

Fast's one-click checkout
  1. Shoppers click the Fast Checkout button on a merchant website when they are ready to buy, either from the shopping cart or the product page.
  2. They fill out the normal form fields (like name, address, payment card number, etc.) just one time—and never again. From here, Fast keeps this information securely stored via encryption and tokenization.
  3. Shoppers can then securely buy products in one click on their favorite websites that have installed Fast Checkout—no password or cumbersome checkout forms required.

It’s that easy.

Who’s Fast for?

Fast is for everyone.

As of today, SMBs with $250M+ in GMV as well as large enterprises are already using Fast Checkout—and it’s available across 35 countries around the world (using more than 100 different currencies.)

Fast isn’t just for ecommerce retailers, either. It works for any sector. From financial institutions, to social platforms, to media companies, SaaS companies, AdTech companies, digital consultants, and more, Fast makes checkout a breeze.

“Over the years, our transactions have evolved from happening in-store to more online through our websites, branded apps, loyalty programs, and more. It’s so important that we give that same great, fast, high-quality experience to our customers online as it is in our locations. That’s why I’m so excited to see what the entire team at Fast is building for the future.”

BigCommerce + Fast partnership

Fast and ecommerce platform BigCommerce have teamed up to make Fast Checkout available to their more than 60,000 merchants.

The reason: With so much competition in the ecommerce environment, the ability to remove friction is a major competitive advantage. Fast is the tool that lets sellers do just that.

With Fast, BigCommerce sellers can make more sales, boost average order values, and deliver a better, more efficient checkout experience for online shoppers. BigCommerce sellers can find Fast Checkout in the BigCommerce app store or at fast.co/sellers

“Implementing Fast is a powerful strategy for merchants, as a faster checkout experience can increase conversions, reduce cart abandonment, and speed up the path to purchase. We partnered with them because we’re always looking for companies who help better serve merchants and attract new customers while improving the checkout experience. Fast is one of the best ways to do that.”
-Mark Rosales, VP of Payments at BigCommerce

Fast company culture

So who are the people working at Fast, anyway?

Led by co-founders Domm Holland and Allison Barr Allen, the Fast team has grown 3X in size over the past six months, thanks in part to the $20M in Series A funding they raised that was led by Stripe.

The Fast team includes global ecommerce experts who previously worked with companies like Uber, PayPal, Apple, Square, Visa and more. All of them believe in the company’s mission to deliver fast checkout experiences that reduce cart abandonment.

But that’s not the only thing they like about working with Fast: Employees also get to enjoy a flex working policy, meaning they can work from absolutely anywhere.
