About Airgarage ๐Ÿ™

AirGarage is repurposing the 30% of real estate in the average American city currently dedicated to parking.

We are building a future where real estate is digitized and can be transitioned from one use to another seamlessly on-demand, moving every piece of urban real estate toward its highest and best use.

We are starting with the $131 billion US parking real estate market because it is one of the most offline and mismanaged commercial real estate asset types.

As a full-stack parking operator, we automate the operation of parking lots and parking garages. We handle everything from advertising to collecting payments from drivers and enforcing against illegal parking. We already operate 150+ parking lots and parking garages across 30 US states and we are growing quickly.

We are backed by top tier investors including Andreessen Horowitz, Floodgate, Founders Fund, and angel investors who have founded or worked at companies like Uber, Opendoor, Flexport, and more.

THE ROLE ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿพโ€๐Ÿ’ป

As the first Product Manager at AirGarage, you will have a massive opportunity to shape the product, implement processes as we scale, and collaborate across teams to deliver a great experience to our customers.

Youโ€™ll own key parts of the development process: researching the details of how something should work, talking to customers, and working with our designers and engineers to build remarkable solutions.

Youโ€™ll need natural leadership skills and the ability to influence even when you donโ€™t have direct authority over others, as well as incredible communication skills to keep things moving along on a team that is primarily remote and seated across many different time zones.

Product Management is a fairly technical role at AirGarage. While you wonโ€™t be coding, we expect PMs to have a fundamental understanding of how web applications and many of the underlying technologies work. You should be comfortable with data - knowing how to instrument systems to collect data and building queries to analyze it.

What You Will Do ๐Ÿ‘ทโ€โ™€๏ธ

โ€” Talk to our two customer segments (parking asset owners and drivers) to develop a deep understanding of their needs. Youโ€™ll need to know the market, our product, and the competition extremely well. Youโ€™ll learn to finish our customersโ€™ sentences, which means talking to a lot of them in order to understand the root of a problem โ€” and all variations of it.

โ€” Research and spec out how things should work. Explain the obvious. Engineering shouldnโ€™t have to ask a million questions when they start working on a feature.

โ€” Lead effective product meetings and organize, manage, and run sprint cadences with our engineering team.

โ€” Organize feedback, bugs, and ideas into a development backlog. Youโ€™ll use tools like Figma to prototype creative solutions and work with designers and developers to refine and implement them.

โ€” Advocate for the customer and drive clear prioritization and efficient execution in the face of ambiguity and complexity.

โ€” Balance urgent short term requests with long term business opportunities and growth levers.

โ€” Communicate internally and externally. You will help write documentation, deliver updates to other internal teams, help craft marketing messaging, assemble presentations, and more.

โ€” Build processes that will scale as our team and company grow.

What You Need ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿผโ€๐ŸŽ“

โ€” 3+ years of experience as a PM โ€” Bonus points for experience at a fast growing startup.

โ€” Strong strategic decision-making skills โ€” you will need to decide what to build and why, which isn't just about listening to customers tell you what features they want.

โ€” Technical background that enables you to convey product requirements to engineers and relay complicated details to non-technical colleagues and customers.

โ€” A passion for organization and documentation โ€” this role is all about communicating while efficiently managing projects with many moving parts.

โ€” Strong verbal and written communication skills.

โ€” Fundamental understanding of good UX design โ€” youโ€™re compelled to make things look beautiful and work flawlessly.

โ€” A growth mindset โ€” you should be a lifelong learner, hungry to learn new technologies, frameworks, and tools for getting your work done more effectively.

THE UPSIDE ๐Ÿ“ˆ

โ€” By joining as one of our early team members, there is enormous opportunity ahead for you to have an outsized impact and shape the future of AirGarage in this role.

โ€” A lot of room to grow -- the product team will be orders of magnitude larger within a few years, and youโ€™ll be the foundation of that team.

โ€” Work closely with our founders and CTO to drive strategy and execute key initiatives.

โ€” The opportunity to change the way that the world thinks about real estate use in our cities.

โ€” A diverse team -- we are currently 35%+ female and 30%+ non-white and we hope to continue hiring thoughtfully to build a team that represents the fact that our customers come from all walks of life.

We understand that there's no such thing as a 'perfect' candidate. We're looking for someone passionate, with grit and determination, who is excited to face the challenges of a rapidly growing startup. AirGarage is the type of company where you can grow exponentially, and we encourage you to apply to us even if you don't 100% match the candidate description.

AirGarage is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. Candidates and employees are always evaluated based on merit, qualifications, and performance. We will never discriminate on the basis of race, color, gender, national origin, ethnicity, veteran status, disability status, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, martial status, mental or physical disability, or any other legally protected status.
