About Us

Founded in 2017 by Carolyn Witte and Felicity Yost, Tia is the modern medical home for women. We are trailblazing a new paradigm for women’s healthcare that treats women as whole people vs. parts or life stages. Blending in-person and virtual care services, Tia’s “Whole Woman, Whole Life” care model fuses gynecology, primary care, mental health and evidence-based wellness services to treat women comprehensively. By making women’s health higher quality and lower cost, Tia makes women healthier, providers happier, and the business of care delivery stronger — setting a new standard of care for women everywhere.

Tia has raised more than $132 Million in venture capital funding to date, including a recent $100 Million Series B investment, one of the largest early-stage rounds ever for a healthcare company focused on women. Tia has ambitious plans to scale its “whole-woman, whole-life” model to more than 100,000 women by 2023. We’ll do this by growing virtual and in-person operations in existing and new markets while expanding its service lines to care for women throughout their entire lives -- from puberty to menopause. Since launching in 2017, Tia has grown to serve thousands of women aged 18-80 with blended in-person and virtual care in New York City, Los Angeles, Phoenix and soon San Francisco.

We’re building a world class team to reimagine women’s healthcare. We’re an interdisciplinary team of clinicians, researchers, designers, technologists and operators who have seen firsthand how broken the healthcare system is for women. We’re united by a powerful mission to enable every woman to achieve optimal health, as defined by herself, as well as a shared set of values and principles that define our business, products, and culture.

Our Company Values

  • Health & Wellbeing: We believe that health & wellbeing is a fundamental human need and right. We prioritize the health & wellbeing of our employees and their families.
  • Compassion: We believe that compassion is as important as information and care itself. We imbue compassion into our care, leadership, and communication.
  • Individual Agency: We believe that every person has a responsibility to enact their agency for the betterment of themselves and others. We encourage all employees to call out problems and advocate for solutions.
  • Collaboration: We believe that collaboration engenders creativity and outsized impact more than hyper-specialized or individualistic approaches to solving problems. We believe collaboration fosters different perspectives, experiences, and skillsets.
  • Aspirational Thinking: We believe that aspirational thinking leads to higher quality work and transformative outcomes. We encourage all employees to think through problems and reach for solutions that raise the bar.

Role Summary

If you aspire to be a Chief Strategy Officer or Chief Operations Officer one day, this is your dream job — an opportunity to get a front row seat at a hyper-growth venture backed startup changing the game in women’s health.

As a Director of Operations, you will act as the right hand(wo)man to Tia’s CEO — commonly referred to as the “Chief of Staff.” You are a healthcare industry strategy and ops “ninja,” who thrives being the architect and operationalizer complement to creative, visionary leaders. you’ll be both the “glue” between the CEO and Tia’s executive team, and chief leverager to support the CEO in managing the Company’s investors and Board members. While you love decks and spreadsheets, you also love people, culture and “hyper-growth” company building. You are passionate about creating new norms for female leadership and helping the CEO build and scale her leadership style and culture goals in accordance with her values and competing priorities.

You are a natural multi-tasker, a rigorous prioritizer, and can fly at 10,000 feet and on street level at the same time — balance big picture thinking and meticulous details. You are analytical and process oriented, but also know how to zoom out and communicate the “important stuff” with no hesitation. You are a master planner and organizer; no detail is too small to be glossed over. You act like an owner, know how to stitch together clues and ask the right questions to build actionable plans instinctively and independently. You spend your Saturdays nerding out in healthcare industry newsletters and love making decks :) You are excited (vs. overwhelmed) by the ambiguity of ad hoc “special projects,” but also are motivated by making the day-to-day operations of a company and executive meetings, and OKR planning function more smoothly and strategically. In addition to learning businesses, you love learning people. It is your inherent EQ and IQ that make you indispensable — a strategic thought partner and architect to complement Tia’s CEO.

Experience & Skills

  • 5 years of work experience in healthcare consulting or a Series A+ startup
  • Previous experience in healthcare is required
  • MBA is a plus
  • Navigating ambiguity — you can turn ambiguous ideas and “nuggets” into briefs and detailed, directed plans, processes and outputs with ease
  • Communication — you are an excellent verbal and written communicator; from briefs, to BoD decks, you know how to tailor your communications to your audience.
  • Project management — you are a process ninja who can create structure out of chaos
  • Asking questions — you are an investigator who can stitch together clues and ask the right questions to produce high quality work with little guidance
  • Managing up — you manage the CEO for her own benefit and that of the team’s, preventing “baton drops”
  • Research — you live for research deep dives, and becoming a quick expert in things you previously knew nothing about

Core Responsibilities

#1: Operationalize Tia’s CEO as her right-hand (wo)man

  • Design and implement the “blueprint plan” to bring the inner workings of Tia’s CEO brain to life in reality
  • Provide strategic leverage and “context glue” to allow the CEO to both “fly above” and “parachute down” as needed and manage across the company efficiently and effectively
  • Manage across Tia’s executive team to enable seamless cross functional collaboration, communication and escalation as needed
  • Create operational processes and workflows to support the CEO and executive team — this can range from continuously improving upon an operational cadence, and setting and communicating the right goals across the company, to running internal pulse checks assessing how the CEO’s functional areas are operating (commercial growth, site development, and brand), to leading executive searches, re-org processes and beyond.

#2: Ensure excellent communication across all “core constituents” of the company: investors, board members, and exec team

  • Partner with the CEO and internal comms to develop strategic storytelling communications for all internal audiences — e.g. company wide all-hands, OKRs, exec team deep dives etc
  • Partner with the CEO to develop strategic storytelling communications for external audiences — BoD decks, fundraising, partnership pitches, quarterly investor updates etc
  • Be the healthcare industry subject matter expert to equip the CEO and executive team in spotting trends, opportunities and risks by synthesize reports, research and data

#3: Lead special projects to strategically drive the business forward, without compromising the “today”

  • From researching new business and partnership opportunities, to developing build/buy/partner strategies, you will be thrown a variety of special projects on an ad-hoc basis with the #1 job of ramping up quickly and “figuring it out.”
  • Step in to own and manage cross-functional projects with “no clear owner”
  • Develop rigorous prioritization frameworks to enable a balance of “building opportunistically for the future” and “managing to the today”

#4: Help the CEO “scale herself” as a visionary, strategist and cultural leader for the Company

  • Design scalable systems for the CEO to build, grow and maintain human relationships with employees across HQ and clinics in service of Tia’s culture and company building goals
  • Help the CEO achieve her goals of setting new standards for female leadership and partnership, in line with Tia’s core values
  • Be the eyes and ears for the CEO to assess where Tia’s culture is thriving or threatened, and help the CEO and exec team proactively build process, systems and norms to address these areas
