Job Description

The Curation team contextualises topics of interest including Breaking News, Politics, Entertainment, and Sports. We’re looking for a skilled Curator for an 18-week contract to help us identify the best Tweets, photos, and videos in real-time around the upcoming French Elections.

The ideal candidate for this role should also have a deep, non-partisan, understanding of French politics and feel comfortable detecting and verifying content related to civic integrity, social justice or health. The candidate must be based in London, fluent in French and English, and have experience writing and editing in both languages.

Job Description

Core skills:

  • Identifying and analysing the most impactful conversations and events on Twitter

  • Detecting and verifying and highlighting factual and credible information

  • A foundational understanding of "content quality" as well as the analytics and Curation Standards by which we might judge and measure that within a product surface

  • Effective verbal and written communication. Can present to broader team on specific projects

  • Is able to prioritize work effectively, with time pressure

  • Is capable of, and receptive to, giving and receiving constructive feedback

Responsibilities:

  • Curate live updates around various topics and events related to the French elections, news and politics

  • Identify events and emerging trends on Twitter that will drive unique content experiences

  • Review and provide standards-based editorial feedback on curated content produced by peers and others

  • Analyze and annotate content signals across a range of topics with a focus on trending conversations and breaking news stories. 

  • Work cross-collaboratively with teammates and internal partners

Qualifications

  • 2 - 4 years of journalism; extensive experience using Twitter as a discovery tool, with a familiarity of the various communities on the platform  

  • Fluent in written and spoken French and English

  • Deep knowledge of high-quality, unbiased reporting

  • Experience curating content (Tweets) in real-time or for publishing

  • Experience with news-gathering tools like Tweetdeck, Dataminr for News, etc preferred

  • Experience managing projects of low to moderate complexity is a plus

  • Flexibility to work nights and weekends
