Hyphen builds tools for the kitchen with the use of software and robotics. We help restaurants augment their workforce, reduce food waste, and ensure meals are created the way their chef intended.

Our backgrounds are at the intersection of foodservice, technology, and advanced robotics. We know kitchens and the equipment that makes them run. We’ve seen the challenges that restaurants face as dining preferences continue to shift — and we’re here to help them adapt. We champion thoughtful, human-centered design, and we see its potential to improve our daily lives.

After going through a crucible moment amidst the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 (you can read more here), Hyphen was born to help restaurants in a time of need. Today we have ten customers with hundreds of systems to design, build, and deploy.

We’ve raised $34M from top VCs and we’re a 20+ team with plans to scale to 50+ people within the next 6-9 months. We have offices in The Bay, LA, and ATL, but most of the team can operate remotely (if they want). We love food, technology, and have a blast building a company together.

The Operations team is the bridge between our customers and product. Our priority is to keep our customers happy and increase efficiency within their kitchens while providing vital information back to our internal teams. We are responsible for implementing and maintaining systems in the field, delighting our customers with world-class service, and keeping a pulse on the day-to-day needs of the business.

What you'll do

  • Define and drive operational maturity at Hyphen, collaborating with the CEO on special projects, tracking key metrics, building financial models, and conducting data analysis as well as ad-hoc support for the leadership team.
  • Be a thought partner in establishing and communicating Hyphen's priorities, challenges, and culture internally and externally.
  • Project manage business initiatives from conception through successful execution, collaborating with cross-functional internal team members, restaurant partners, and consultants.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to support the team and improve current processes across functional areas, coordinating organizational procedures for optimized efficiency and productivity.
  • Build team infrastructure to ensure smooth communications, project management, and cross-functional collaboration – be the owner of internal templates and external accounts.
  • Create a high-performance culture by being the organizational “glue” – connecting, onboarding, and supporting the team as we grow and scale. Support with traditional HR projects on an as-needed basis.
  • Support investor relations and stakeholder communications by drafting internal and external business updates across key projects and financial performance.

Who you are

  • You have 3-7 years of experience in management consulting, investment banking, and/or at a fast-paced startup environment that demands strategic thinking, data analysis, organization, and collaborative communications.
  • Proven experience organizing and collaborating with multiple, cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent business acumen and understanding of a P&L.
  • Analytical problem solver with advanced command of Excel and data analysis tools.
  • Proven ability to develop and optimize operational processes, structures, and roles that enable efficiencies and support rapid growth.
  • Experience with HR, culture, previous Rippling experience is a bonus.
  • Proactive, hard-working, and resourceful in pushing progress forward and meeting accelerated timelines with minimal oversight.
  • Thrives in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced but thoughtful and feedback-rich environment.
  • Is a highly organized and analytical problem solver who loves challenging the status quo with a mindset of ‘how can we do this even better?’

Why you might not be excited

  • We are still a fairly young company with ~20 people (but plan to scale to 50+ people within the next 6-9 months), so if you like more established companies, this role isn’t for you. You'll help create and drive our company's culture.
  • We're an early-stage startup. Projects and priorities are likely to shift.
  • Everyone on the team is extremely mission-driven and works incredibly hard to push towards our lofty ambitions. Most people won’t be cut out for it.
  • You should be comfortable with a dash of chaos. This is not the kind of job where you show up and we tell you exactly what to do every day.

Benefits

  • An opportunity to change the world and work with some of the smartest and most talented experts from different fields.
  • Growth potential. We rapidly advance team members who had an outsized impact.
  • Competitive salary and equity.
  • Excellent medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Unlimited time off + paid holidays.
  • 401(K) plan.
