This is an awesome and potentially timeless piece, thanks for writing it. The product trade offs are mind boggling between chains, layers, etc -- so wishing you luck, and excited to follow along!

This is by far the best content that I've read in the last months. Thanks a lot for sharing this knowledge. Since I discovered web3 I have been trying to jump in that space as a PM, this content will help me a lot.

So well done- I’m CPO @web2 company and founder @web3 DAO. It is a different world and community first. We’re getting to assets being utilities instead the humans as assets for data mining. The 95/5 on execution rings true for me. I’ll reference this and forward to my network 🕴🏼

Thank you for writing this great content. One of the best wrap-ups I've read in a while. As a tech writer, I'd have loved a mention of tech writers in this space. I see a lot of good (and bad) docs for some of these technologies and I'm wondering, who's writing it all? Developers?

Great article - but thinks of web3 as dapps only. The chains powering those dapps are also web3, and things like UX certainly differentiate them. There is plenty of data and metrics to be optimized, and the path forward is not qualitative in a layer2 protocol like it may be in an NFT project. UX is determined mostly on the protocol layer with assistance of infrastructure services, unlike a frontend focused UX like in web2.

Part of the learning here is that you can't think of web3 as this or that, but rather a wholistic environment including all parts of the stack (prechain, chain, dapp, wallet, community, governance layer, liquidity & more). Some of these are highly quantitative to deal with akin to web2, some of them require a lot more engagement and qualitative assessment.

Frankly I'm not interested in whay is mainly a huge Ponzi scheme, based in subpar technologies that don't have any use (other than scamming/laundering money). Will give this one a hard pass
