Germany blocks newspaper deal

Germany’s Federal Cartel Office has issued a rare decision to block media publisher Funke Mediengruppe’s proposed acquisition of a full stake in daily newspaper Ostthüringer Zeitung, citing concerns that it could lead to another regional newspaper monopoly.
