It would be interesting if every industry has to report total energy usage as the measure of their worth. How about banks and atm machines, or maybe printing fiat and creating coins?

My view on this has always been that the community has to fight FUD with facts. As you mention, is the data at the moment perfect? Certainly not. But I do think it is improving and the BMC seems to be doing it’s part to help clarify fact from fiction when it comes to energy consumption and BTC mining. It’s very interesting that mining gets such a heavy focus but I think we all know that is other competing industries (cough banking cough) who are likely spreading rumors to push for more regulation and crackdown. Great article, I’m a numbers and figures guy so enjoyed your analysis!

This article just shows how stupid the argument about energy useage for Bitcoin creation is.

In my mind the whole argument/discussion is just to distract people away from all the good things that Bitcoin is capable of

They are constantly talking to the detriment and trying to influence it negatively. It is very difficult to understand their purpose. Thank you for the article.
