My view on this has always been that the community has to fight FUD with facts. As you mention, is the data at the moment perfect? Certainly not. But I do think it is improving and the BMC seems to be doing it’s part to help clarify fact from fiction when it comes to energy consumption and BTC mining. It’s very interesting that mining gets such a heavy focus but I think we all know that is other competing industries (cough banking cough) who are likely spreading rumors to push for more regulation and crackdown. This article just shows how stupid the argument about energy useage for Bitcoin creation is.
In my mind the whole argument/discussion is just to distract people away from all the good things that Bitcoin is capable of
