Instead of assisting millions of Americans during a global pandemic, Democrats wasted valuable time on an unconstitutional impeachment trial. Day after day, we witnessed their partisan spectacle aimed at attacking President Trump — three weeks after he left office.

At a time when our nation is deeply divided, political theater only tears our country further apart. Congress should have remained focused on real issues instead of obsessing over a private citizen. Nevertheless, I’m glad former President Trump was acquitted and look forward to preserving the America first policies he championed over the last four years.

An opportunity to help veterans

I’m excited to share that I have been selected to serve as the Ranking Member for the Economic Opportunity Subcommittee on the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs. As a veteran and small business owner, I am humbled by this incredible opportunity.

After courageously defending our nation, our heroes deserve a smooth transition into the civilian workforce. We must ensure economic opportunities are available for these brave men and women following their military service. Removing burdensome barriers and offering helpful tools will set our veterans up for success in their career paths. I’m deeply honored to serve in this role, and I look forward to working to improve the futures of our veterans.

Too many lockdowns killing businesses

It’s almost been an entire year since states across the country implemented destructive lockdowns in response to the spread of COVID-19. As a result, many small businesses were forced to permanently close their doors and give up their American dream.

While numerous state and local governments have learned to properly handle the coronavirus without destroying jobs in the process, there are still too many draconian lockdowns, in predominantly blue states, that are killing small businesses. Rebuilding our economy is only possible if we reopen our economy.

Government negligence should not be rewarded with bailouts from Congress. That’s why I became an original co-sponsor of the Right to Earn a Living Act, which would block federal COVID-19 relief funds to states that implement lockdowns. Importantly, this legislation provides an exception for essential funding, such as testing or PPP, while still preventing blue state bailouts.

Biden destroyed jobs

With the stroke of a pen, President Biden destroyed thousands of jobs on his first day in office by revoking the Keystone XL Pipeline permit. This severely misguided decision put more Americans out of work during a global pandemic and deepened our energy dependence on Russia and the Middle East.

In comparison, President Trump tried advancing the construction of the $9 billion, 1,200-mile pipeline during his time in office.

What’s the difference? Putting America first.

In response, I joined over 80 of my Republican colleagues on the Keystone XL Pipeline Construction and Jobs Preservation Act, which would override President Biden’s disastrous executive order. By declaring a presidential permit is not required for authorization, this bill would resume construction of the Keystone XL Pipeline and restore thousands of jobs. We are dedicated to protecting American jobs and energy independence - even if the current administration is directly thwarting our efforts.
