Chainmonsters Bringing Proper Battle Mode with Alpha 3

The battle mode of Chainmonsters has been pretty bare bones during the alpha test, but the upcoming alpha 3 update needs to change that. On Monday May 17th they will update Chainmonsters and introduce proper monster stats, stat algorithms, speed dependency and the first preparations for the game’s elemental system.

Ultimately Chainmonsters will get a combo-based battle system, where two attacks after each other can result in a powerful elemental reaction. As a result players will need to build a squad, or swap mid-battle, to optimize their damage output. However, this elemental-based combat will be integrated in alpha v4.

For now Chainmonsters players need to be satisfied with the alpha 3 update, which means animated monsters during battles, tweaked dialogues, a tutorial area and so on. Bside Games will reset all the progress, so players will need to go through the beginning of the game again. This way they can verify that the questing systems are fully functional and stable.

Chainmonsters is currently in closed alpha. Only accounts that have redeemed their alpha NFT, have access. Gamers can play the Chainmonsters alpha 3 on PC (Steam), iOS and Android.

Chainmonsters has been around

Bside Games launched Chainmonsters a couple of years ago on the Ethereum blockchain. Over they years the MMORPG made a switch to the Flow blockchain, and completely revamped all its game systems and graphical aspects. Players who’ve been playing this older version of Chainmonsters, might have some Chainmons in the wallets. They can now apply to have their NFTs moved over to the Flow blockchain.

What is Chainmonsters?

Chainmonsters is a massively multiplayer online role playing game inspired by classic games like The Legend of Zelda and Pokémon. However, players will be competing against each other. Every player is an agent working for a corporation. There’s a mysterious disease that makes all creatures more aggressive, and there’s a weird crystal in the world. Guess who needs to find out? But can players trust the corporation? Who knows.

Players will need to acquire all kinds of little monsters. Some of them can only be found in certain regions, others only for a limited time. These monsters come from different elements, nine in total. These are generally home to a certain island or regions: pyro, hydro, nature, electro, air, cryo, geo and crystal.

Each of those mons has several basic attributes: health points (HP), attack, defense, elemental attack, elemental defense, speed, and stamina points (SP). In addition each mon has individual values for each stats, which means that mons can have different stats even though they look the same.

On top of that there are traits. Each monster has up to two traits. Most of them start with one and will learn a second one as they level up. For example, arcane intellect increase the critical hit chance, while haste increases the speed gain on a level-up. There are also traits that increase the attack power, while others decrease certain stats.
