Once again, demonstrators have crossed the line from protest into harassment and now their targets, shamefully, are schoolchildren. According to the Association of School and College Leaders, almost 80 per cent of schools have been targeted by antivaxers. It’s totally unacceptable to target children for such harassment, an inexcusable abuse of their vulnerability.
However, we’re increasingly seeing protesters resort to extreme tactics. Yesterday, the Insulate Britain mob once again started blocking the roads. Such people believe so much is at stake that the ends justify extreme means. What drives them is fear, whether of the planet’s extinction or forcible vaccination. But what’s really terrifying is their loss of rationality and any sense of proportion.
