Japanese institutions turn their eyes towards Aussie tech start-ups

The burgeoning potential of Australia’s start-up tech sector has captured the attention of some of Japan’s biggest financial institutions, with a new venture capital fund formed with a mandate to invest almost exclusively in emerging early-stage local companies.
The fund, called InterValley Ventures, has closed an initial $30 million tranche of capital and expects to quickly lock away another $20 million, to bring its first fund to $50 million.
