Mark Zuckerberg has a goat named Bitcoin and we're a little worried for it

Cute goats, to be honest.

Mark Zuckerberg posted a picture of his two, frankly adorable, goats noting their names are Max and Bitcoin.

And to that I say: Please don't eat them.

Here's the post in question.

Look at those cute little goats. Very cute, very nice. Bitcoin looks very chill sitting on that hay.

Some folks are adding quite a bit of meaning to the names of these goats, however. Crypto enthusiasts are taking it to mean the Facebook founder supports Bitcoin. Get it? Like Max...Bitcoin, or a Bitcoin maximalist?

We haven't yet gotten a follow up from Zuckerberg on the meaning behind the names. So it's all sort of a guess right now.

It is somewhat strange Zuckerberg would name his goat Bitcoin considering Facebook is planning to release its own cryptocurrency. The company is expected to launch Diem — a rebranded, revamped version of its previous crypto called Libra — some time this year.

There could also be a less...cute...reason for Zuckerberg having the goats. He famously spent a year eating only animals he killed. During that year he even served Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey a goat he slaughtered that day. Dorsey was less than impressed with Zuck's offering.

"We go in the dining room," Dorsey told Rolling Stone in an interview in 2019. "He puts the goat down. It was cold. That was memorable. I don’t know if it went back in the oven. I just ate my salad."

Hopefully Bitcoin and Max aren't slated to meet a similar fate.
