SXSW 2022

Congress, Heal Thyself

Description:

In 2019 Congress created a Committee to help Modernize the institution and tasked six Republicans and six Democrats to come together and stop being polite... and start getting real. The Committee has taken this opportunity to consult with experts in culture, conflict and even relationships to tackle difficult topics including civility and collaboration in our hyper polarized political climate.

The Chair and Vice Chair of the Modernization Committee will be joined by author and journalist Amanda Ripley, who wrote the book “High Conflict: Why We Get Trapped and How We Get Out” to discuss lessons learned by the Committee concrete ways Congress could break out of the partisan gridlock that plagues today’s institution.
