Acting White House During an interview with economist Stephen Moore at the Conservative Political Action Conference, White House Acting Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney defends the Trump administration's response to the coronavirus outbreak, saying they briefed Congress on the matter weeks ago. Mulvaney accuses the press of ignoring the issue and using it to try to bring down the president, calling it their "hoax of the day." He also suggests that the best way to calm the markets might be for "people to turn their televisions off for 24 hours." Mulvaney says the president has responded appropriately and that U.S. health care system is equipped and prepared to deal with the crisis. close
