Macgregor Makes Sense!
My spidey senses tell me that Col Douglas Macgregor will not be welcomed back on Fox News after he gave a rather different take on what is happening amid the Russia-Ukraine conflict that does not toe the common media line. [SEGMENT HERE] Jennifer Griffin was furious.
The first presentation was during a segment with Fox Host Dan Bongino (below). The second presentation of essentially the same analysis was with Trey Gowdy [SEGMENT HERE]. In both discussions Macgregor’s perspective reconciles the disparity between what the U.S. government, State Dept, and corporate media are saying -vs- what is visible.
Essentially, Macgregor is saying that Russia does not want to engage a civilian population and is making every effort to avoid civilian conflict in those population centers. In part this is because Putin knows the Western approach is a propaganda war that would be fueled by what it would look like if population carnage took place. However, if Ukraine President Zelenskyy does not acquiesce to terms, Putin could easily crush those centers with artillery and rockets. WATCH:
What Macgregor outlines would explain why these skirmishes always seem ‘off in the distance’.
The western government and media perspective is to make it seem like Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the rebellious civilian misfits are beating the Russian army because that frames a better story. However, what Macgregor outlines is Putin not wanting to fuel the United Nations, NATO and State Dept narrative engineering, thus the absence of visible fighting.

I totally disagree. I think he is making sense. Zelensky is a fool who does not care about Ukrainians. If he cared, he would pursue a settlement to avoid deaths. He gave gangs of thugs guns to fight the Russians, but they just use the weapons to steal. The war is lost and there is a path to peace. What is there to lose by trying? There is no glory in death.

I think it’s possible to objectively empathize with Putin and understand where the Russians are coming from (based on their clearly stated interpretation of history and recent events) while also believing their solutions are wrong and that waging war is a bad idea to accomplish their goals. I’d much prefer we manage the bear and lower his temperature rather than continuously poke him and produce a self-fulfilling prophecy. When Trump called the leaders of the West “dumb”, he was right. Although he might also have added corrupt and occasionally evil. Seems we botched the past 30 years of Russian diplomacy. Had our chance. Blew it.
I should also add that it’s equally easy to empathize with the Ukrainian citizens who are scared and want to hold on to their country. It’s a mess. One side will win and one will lose. Sucks. But at this point, America needs to butt out and let them solve it. We’ve meddled in their affairs enough.

It takes good faith on both sides for a negotiation to take place. Failing to understand the other side’s legitimate issues is very bad faith, and the U.S. and NATO stand guilty of belittling Russia’s security concerns.
Putin is really asking for two things. 1) not to have the Ukraine become a NATO country. I have seen more gaslighting on this topic than almost any other topic. Many commentators say that Ukraine becoming a NATO country was never on the table. If so, then why can’t we put that in writing, stating that Ukraine will never become a NATO country? That’s what Putin wants – and ironclad guarantee that Ukraine will never become a NATO country, and we won’t give him that assurance. Do you begin to sense why Putin is frustrated and angry?
2) Putin wants the current government of Ukraine to stop making war on the sections that are largely ethnic Russian. They have been a target of the Kiev regime from the get-go. Putin wants this persecution to end.
If you can’t see the real issues, then you will not understand, and will have a severely distorted view of what Putin wants.
