Airwallex has topped up its US$160 million (AU$254m) series D raise from April with an extra US$40 million ($57m) with Skip Capital, the family investment fund run by Kim Jackson with her husband, Atlassian co-founder Scott Farquhar.

Regular backer Square Peg Capital also returned for the latest cash injection, which continues to value the fintech at US$1.8 billion, having raised US$400 million in equity funding since its founding in Melbourne in 2015.

The initial series D raise earlier this year saw new investors ANZi Ventures and Salesforce Ventures, join previous backers, including DST Global, Tencent, Sequoia Capital China, Hillhouse Capital and Horizons Ventures.

The company is planning to use the cash to expand its expansion in Europe and its move into the US.

Earlier this month the business launched a B2B rewards program for its customers.
