Community Project Funding Requests

Community Project Funding allows Members of Congress to request direct funding for projects that benefit the communities they represent.

Congresswoman Chu is now accepting submissions for Community Project Funding (CPF) requests for FY25.

The deadline to submit FY25 CPF requests to Congresswoman Chu is MONDAY, APRIL 29th at 11:59PM Pacific Time.

To submit a request, please read the below guidance (Step 1) and submit the linked form (Step 2).

Step 1: Read the guidance and ensure your project is eligible.

*IMPORTANT: The below information is updated to reflect the final FY25 guidance from the Appropriations Committee. While the Committee is maintaining similar eligible program accounts and guidance from FY24, one notable change is that nonprofits are no longer eligible for Community Project Funding in the Economic Development Initiative (EDI) account. If you already submitted an application based on the FY24 guidance, it is your responsibility to update your application if necessary to ensure it is compliant with the final FY25 guidance below.

Submission Requirements:

  • Applicants must be public or nonprofit entities (although nonprofit entities are not eligible for the EDI account).
  • Applications must be accompanied by proof of community support (i.e. letters of support from elected officials, news articles detailing project need, resolutions of support from local governments, newspaper editorials, etc.).
  • Funding requests must be limited only to Fiscal Year 2025.
  • Several Federal programs eligible for Community Project Funding requests require a State or local match for projects either by statute or according to longstanding policy. Note: This does not mean that matching funds must be in-hand prior to requesting a project, but that local officials must have a plan to meet such requirements in order for such a project to be viable.

Applications will only be considered for eligible accounts. Guidance for each Appropriations subcommittee is hyperlinked below. For a full list of eligible accounts from FY25, please see this link.

CPF guidance varies for each subcommittee. Each subcommittee’s FY25 guidance is available at the following links:
