This update was proudly written by all members of the Prysmatic Lab team.

Just over two years ago, Prysmatic Labs began their journey into implementing Ethereum 2.0 with three major milestones: Ruby, Sapphire, and Diamond. These milestones embodied our vision of how we wanted to help bring Ethereum to a global scale. We are proud to announce our final planned restart for Ethereum 2.0 Phase 0: The Topaz Test Network.

Ruby, Sapphire, Topaz, and Diamond Milestones

The Topaz test network is unique as it represents the full Ethereum 2.0 Phase 0 mainnet configuration. In the previous testnet, Sapphire, we targeted mainnet scale but used smaller 3.2 ETH deposits. For Topaz, validators are going to have to deposit the full 32 ETH on the Goerli ETH1 testnet to participate. To remain true to our original vision, Diamond represents the mainnet release of Prysm in Ethereum 2.0.

The Topaz test network is now accepting genesis deposits. Tomorrow, Prysmatic Labs will start turning down our Sapphire validators and begin sending new genesis deposits. If you would like to be a genesis validator, send your deposit before 00:00 UTC April 16, 2020 as that is when Prysmatic will begin sending deposits en masse to kick off the test network. Get started on the testnet onboarding site and join us on Discord!
