- Reviewed in the United States on August 15, 2013Format: HardcoverVerified PurchaseIf you enjoy detailed aspects about life from the 15th-18th century then this is a great reference book. It is written for the layman but takes a long time to get through the material. It also covers a wide range of topics. Great source of historical information.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 23, 2018Format: HardcoverVerified PurchaseVerbous and well sourced. Roughly 100 pages of citations at the end. Not a thriller by any means, but a great read

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing reference between 15-18th cen.
Format: HardcoverVerified PurchaseSeems more fitting for experienced readers of the subject--if you want to read every word cover to cover. I, personally, found myself skipping through here and there. Some parts just felt purposeless and I could not guess how they were relevant or interesting. Still, it is an overall wealth of information even if you have to swim a little. I learned a lot, and I recognize it was a great book, most definitely invaluable for some, but possibly overwhelming to new readers on the subject.
It will remain in my shelf for reference. I recommend it for anyone writing about times in the 15th-18th century or of course are just interested. And I think I bought it for less than shipping cost, used, and it was in great condition.
no doubt 5 stars

4.0 out of 5 stars Sorta okay
Format: HardcoverVerified PurchaseArrived earlier than promised, which is good, but, as a well-used book, its condition is poor; spine is weak and, in places, wrecked. Still usable, ergo I am happy with book. dgp
